We asked ourselves, with so much being done to tackle inequalities, why is there still considerably more to do? There is no doubt we have made progress towards creating a better world; however, we have not succeeded in moving far or fast enough forward in reaching that perfectly equal and inclusive society. It may be an idealistic and lofty ambition to attain fully, as the societies we build will always have differences, disparities, and hierarchies at some level.

Discrimination surrounds us all daily and whilst it may not always be obvious, the subtle occurrences can be even more challenging to navigate and resolve, than the clearer forms in the past. Judgement is clumsy, its ignorant, accidental, and feeds off some of our most basic and honest human traits of bias and prejudice, to which we are all victims.

We, are seldom seen or more importantly, see ourselves as valuable contributors towards many of the world’s greatest achievements, progress and innovations from which everyone benefits. Yet, we know with absolute certainty, we’ve made and continue to make a huge contribution to our global society, even though our role may be well hidden, or hard to find. And so, It can be difficult to navigate a society where there is a noticeable absence of relatable, inspirational role models and their achievements to propel us forward.
